After we reluctantly left Newfoundland we went to stay with our kind and long suffering relatives, Jim and Anne, near Halifax (they have put us up a lot more than any of us expected!). We had a lovely evening with them before they headed off to see their new grandchild on Prince Edward Island. We spent a weekend with Mark’s cousin Kevin and his lovely dog Oyster. Mark carried on doing jobs on Shaun. He ticks one thing off the list, but immediately puts two more things on it!!
One of the important things that Shaun needed was to move his tyres, from front to rear to even out the wear. As Mark hadn’t done this before he decided to book Shaun into a garage. So, before we left the Halifax area, we went to a truck tyre specialist and had the job done. It took several hours, as it takes so long to reinflate each tyre. The tyres had never been balanced before, so the garage added some balancing beads, by injection! We were told the ride would not be too smooth for the first 1000 km, as the wear had to even out. Unfortunately, the ride in Shaun now became very shaky!!
So, time is ticking on, and we want to get to the USA! We also wanted to see the Bay of Fundy, known for its extremely high tides. We drove to the New Brunswick province to see the tidal bore (think giant wave) at Moncton, a difference in low tide to high tide of 30 ft, you could hear the bore (tide) coming in! The river is known as the Chocolate river, and yes it does like milky chocolate, very brown! We also visited Hopewell Rocks, where again the difference in height of low and high tide is huge. The force of water has created great shapes in the rocks, which were fun to explore as the tide receded.

Our last night in Canada for now, was spent in St John, a great small city to wonder around, and we had good fun in the Irish bar and microbrewery across the road.
As we were preparing to leave our park up spot, a police are approached us. We didn’t think we had done anything wrong, but cautiously got out to speak to the officer.

She was just coming over to admire Shaun, and we had a great conversation with her, she was a great sport!
So, on to the USA!
